Gem-studded Puffball

Don’t confuse with an amanita mushroom in the button stage. Sometimes it will be difficult to tell from the outside. This is a gem-studded puffball below.

Always cut open puffballs to make sure an outline of a traditional mushroom shape cannot be seen. If the outline of a mushroom cap can be seen, then it may be a potentially deadly amanita. The flesh should be smooth and pure, like a marshmallow. Notice how the flesh in the pictures below is pure like a marshmallow and lacks the outline of an immature capped mushroom.
